Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order occupational office glasses online?

Ordering office glasses from Direct Sight takes minutes. Choose any frame from this page, select the occupational (office) lens option at the lens selection step, then enter your prescription, including your ADD value. We glaze every pair in our own optical laboratory in Amersham, Buckinghamshire and deliver them to your door. If you'd like help at any point, our UK team is available on 01494 307 345, Monday to Friday 9 to 5.

How much do occupational office glasses cost?

Occupational office lenses start from £85.00 and our frames start from just £9.00. That's a fraction of the typical high-street price for occupational varifocals, with the same optical standards, because we glaze everything in our own UK laboratory and sell direct. Extras such as blue light filtering and high index thinner lenses can be added at checkout.

Which frames suit occupational office lenses?

Like varifocals, occupational lenses are a progressive design, so they need a minimum lens depth of 30mm to fit the near and intermediate zones comfortably. The easiest way to shop is to use the 'Varifocal compatible' filter on this page, those frames all have the depth occupational lenses need. Beyond that, choose whatever shape, colour and material you like. Rectangle, round, cat eye and square styles all work well for office wear.

Are office glasses the same as blue light glasses?

No, they solve different problems. Blue light glasses filter a portion of the blue light emitted by screens and can be made with or without a prescription, but they don't change where your lenses focus. Occupational office glasses are prescription lenses that refocus your vision for near and intermediate distances, giving you a wide, clear view of your screen and desk. The good news is you don't have to choose, blue light filter can be added to your occupational lenses at checkout.

How do I choose between the three working ranges?

You'll be asked to pick a working range when you customise your lenses, based on how far you need to see clearly from your seat. For most desk and home-working setups, the mid range option covers your screen, paperwork and a colleague across the desk. Our office lenses explained guide walks through all three ranges in detail, and our team can recommend the right one for your workspace if you're unsure.

How long do occupational glasses take to arrive?

Occupational lenses are individually surfaced progressive lenses, so they take a little longer than single vision glasses and aren't part of our Next Day Express service. All orders are glazed, checked and dispatched from our Amersham laboratory with typical delivery inside one to two weeks depending on your prescription and lens options.

Can I put office lenses in my existing frames?

Yes. If you already own a frame you love, our reglaze service can fit new occupational office lenses into it.  Provided the frame is in good condition and has enough lens depth for a progressive design. Simply choose the reglaze option, post us your frames, and we'll return them fitted with your new office lenses.

Buying Office Glasses Online

Between the office monitor, the laptop at the kitchen table and the video calls in between, UK workers now spend more of the day at screen distance than ever and a dedicated pair of glasses for computer work is fast becoming as normal as a second monitor. Sometimes called occupational glasses, workplace glasses, screen glasses, computer glasses, VDU glasses or desk glasses.  They provide glasses set up precisely for the distances your job actually uses.
