How much do prescription lenses cost?

At Direct Sight we supply single vision uncoated lenses FREE with every frame.  There are lens options and extras that you may wish to consider, such as, high index lenses, progressive lenses, photochromic lenses or protective lens coatings.  These all come at an additional cost.  To see the savings that you can make on your lenses see our lens price list.

Why are prescription lenses so expensive?

Prescription lenses can often be pricey due to factors such as brand markup, in-store overhead costs, and the quality of materials used. However, at Direct Sight, we offer high-quality prescription lenses at a fraction of the cost compared to high street opticians. We keep our prices affordable by operating online and directly manufacturing our lenses in our UK-based laboratory, cutting out the extra costs of traditional brick-and-mortar stores. This way, you can enjoy premium eyewear and superior quality without the high street price tag. We believe that everyone should have access to affordable prescription lenses without compromising on quality or style.

What are the different types of prescription lenses?

At Direct Sight we offer a range of different prescription lenses ranging from single vision to progressives.  To view our complete lens offering please visit our lenses page in the Lens Centre.

Can you find your prescription from your glasses lenses?

While it is possible for your prescription to be taken from an old pair of glasses using laboratory equipment it is not always accurate.  For the most accurate prescription, it's best to get a new eye test.

Are prescription sunglasses more expensive than prescription glasses?

Generally, prescription sunglasses can be slightly more expensive than regular prescription glasses. This is because they require additional materials to provide UV protection and often come with specialised lenses like polarised or tinted options. However, at Direct Sight, we offer affordable prescription sunglasses without compromising on quality. Our prices are competitive, and we ensure that you get the best value for premium prescription lenses and stylish frames, whether you’re shopping for everyday glasses or sunglasses.
