Your glasses aren't pulled off a shelf

Every pair is crafted individually in our own laboratory in Amersham, on the same precision equipment optical labs use, by technicians who spent 20+ years glazing lenses in opticians' practices.

Every lens checked for accuracy

Checked using a focimeter. The same type of professional instrument used by opticians.

Glazed on our MEI Bisphera

Your lenses are precisely shaped and edged to your frame using advanced optical glazing technology.

Coatings applied with care

Anti-reflective, scratch-resistant and tint options, applied and cured in our own lab.

The people behind your glasses

Every pair is made and checked by our own technicians in our Amersham lab.

Our Story

Our story begins in 1960, when our family first entered the optical profession in West London.

For generations, eyewear has been part of our family. The technology has changed. The way people shop has changed. But what matters hasn't is getting the prescription right, making glasses carefully and treating customers fairly.

In 2004, we took that experience online and created Direct Sight. The idea was simple.  By selling directly to customers and investing in our own optical laboratory, we could offer professionally made prescription glasses without many of the costs associated with traditional high-street retail.

More than two decades later, we are still independent, still family run and still focused on that same idea.

Made here. By us.

Made here. By us.

Our optical team uses specialist equipment to prepare, glaze, assemble and inspect prescription eyewear. Keeping this process within our own laboratory gives us greater oversight of quality and production.

From straightforward single vision prescriptions to varifocals and prescription sunglasses, each order follows the appropriate production and checking process before it leaves us.

Although you order your glasses, there is always real optical expertise behind them.

Better eyewear shouldn't require a bigger price tag.

Better eyewear shouldn't require a bigger price tag.

We believe good vision should be accessible.

Selling online and glazing prescription glasses in our own laboratory allows us to operate differently from a traditional high street retail model. It helps us keep greater control over production while reducing some of the overheads associated with a large store network.

That's how we can offer complete prescription glasses from £9, alongside premium frames, varifocals, prescription sunglasses and additional lens options for customers who need them.

You choose what you need. We explain the options clearly, so you can make the choice that's right for you.
