Production & Delivery Timescales

We make each and every pair of glasses ordered with us at our production facility in Buckinghamshire. Production times vary depending on prescription strength, lens type and frame design.

Production & Delivery Timescales

We make each and every pair of glasses ordered with us at our production facility in Buckinghamshire. Production times vary depending on prescription strength, lens type and frame design.

We make every effort to ensure our items are dispatched and delivered as quickly as possible as we understand your new glasses are important to you. The majority of orders are dispatched within 3-7 working days* from the date that the order is accepted. Some glasses take longer, up to 7-14 working days, due to more complex lenses or if our opticians need to contact you about your order.
We offer a same day dispatch service available on our Next Day Express frames when customised with single vision clear lenses. Certain lens types take longer to manufacturer so are not available to order under the Next Day Express option.
All Next Day Express single vision orders, if received before 3pm on Monday to Friday, will be complete the same day and dispatched via Royal Mail Tracked 24 for next-day delivery. Orders placed after 3pm Friday or during the weekend or a public holiday will be completed and dispatched the following working day for delivery the next business day.
Next Day Express orders placed with the "send prescription later" option, or with a prescription attached, will be considered received once the prescription has been added to the order by a member of our team.
For all items ordered you will receive a confirmation email once your item has been dispatched, and in the rare case of delays, you will be notified as quickly as possible. All orders are manufactured and shipped from our UK production facility based in Amersham, Bucks.
Single Vision Lens Orders:
+/-0.00 to +/-6.00 SPH 3-5 working days
+/-6.25 to +/-8.00 SPH 5-7 working days
Over +/- 2.00 CYL 5-7 working days
Prescription with Prism 7-10 working days
More Complex Lens Orders and Frames:
Multifocal (Varifocal, Occupational, Bifocal) 7-14 working days
Non Stocked Designer Frames** 5-20 working days
Polarised Lenses 7-10 working days
Tinted Lenses 7-10 working days
Next Day Express Orders:

1.5 and 1.6 index SPH +/-0.25 to +/-6.00
CYL +/-0.25 to +/-2.00
Not able to be offered under the Next Day Express production:

* Working days are Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)

** Designer frames come directly from our suppliers (mostly Italy) and usually arrive within 5 days after date of order. If we are notified that a frame is on back order, we will contact you to advise of any potential delays.

*** All Next Day Express order are dispatch via Royal Mail 24 of which the cost is included in the £19 charged for the Next Day Express service.

We currently only dispatch to address within the UK.

If your order does not arrive within the estimated timescales, this may be that the parcel is delayed within the mailing system. We ask that you allow up to 2 weeks (10 working days) before contacting us. If your parcel has not arrived within this time, please contact our customer service team. You will need your order number and the date that your order was dispatched. You will be sent a non-delivery form that we ask you to complete for us to use as evidence of non-receipt in our claim with the courier service used.

Customers own frames sent for reglazing are are sent at the customers own risk. We can not be held responsible if these items go missing in the postal system. All reglaze orders are dispatched by Royal Mail 48.

I need to change my order. What should I do?

Our customer service team can make any alterations to your order as long as you contact us as quickly as possible after placing your order. Once the order has begun production we will be unable to make any changes to the frame, lens type or prescription. Address changes can be made up until the order is ready for dispatch.

Can I track my order?
Up
You can obtain a progress update on your order by contacting customer service on help@directsight.co.uk, 01494 307 345 or live chat for an update on your order.

How long do I have to wait for my glasses after ordering them?
Up
Production times vary depending on prescription strength, frame and lens type. Please refer to the time scales listed in the page above.

What shipping methods do you offer?
Up
We post all of our orders through Royal Mail.

Why is Next Day Express not available of certain lens types?
Up
We are only able to expedite certain frames, stock lens types and prescriptions for Next Day Express. Lens options, frames and prescription strengths not included are due to them taking longer to manufacture.

Can I change my Next Day Express order?
Up
Unfortunately, we are unable to make changes or cancel a Next Day Express order as we will have already started processing your purchase. However, once you have received the glasses, you can exchange or return the order.

Can I upgrade my standard-delivery order to Next Day Express?
Up
If you wish to upgrade your order to Next Day Express please contact our customer service team as quickly as possible. If we are able to do so, the order will be upgraded and an invoice will be emailed to you for the additional payment to be made.

If the order is unable to be upgraded you can place a new order online with the Next Day Express service and return the original order for an exchange or refund once received.

Can I change my Next Day Express order to standard delivery after ordering?

Unfortunately you can not downgrade your Next Day Express order to standard delivery. If you wish to make a new order with standard delivery you can return the Next Day Express order for a refund.

Can I collect my glasses from the store after ordering online?
Up
You can by all means collect your glasses from our outlet based in Amersham, however, you must notify us prior to order being complete. Once the order has been packed for dispatch we are unable to intercept the glasses before they are posted out to you. An email will be sent to you to confirm completion of the glasses when they are packed ready to be dispatched. At this point we are unable to intercept the glasses before they are posted out to you.

If you collect your glasses from us the postage paid will be refunded for you. There is no postage charge for Next Day Express orders.

What if my order is damaged?

If your glasses are delivered in anything less than perfect condition please contact our customer service at your earliest convenience. You may be asked to provide a photo of the glasses to show any defect/damage or the glasses may be required to be returned to us. We will quickly make any necessary adjustments or replace the glasses for you.
